Goodbye Old Wooden Playground

DSC02296Children’s Park in San Marcos, Texas had one of those playgrounds where children could lose themselves. It was billed as a community project decades ago, long before we moved to the city.

My kids loved it.

It had castles, a dragon, rocket ships and swings. It had places kids could hide, climb and escape. It also had lots of splinters, screws poking out and wasn’t accessible by any modern standard.

Work has begun to remove the old wooden structure. What’s coming is supposed to be safer and potentially better.

While we’re excited to see the new playground it’s sad to see so many memories dismantled. I’m just glad we had one last day at the park before the construction or rather destruction began.
